Plastic Tree – Shiroi Ashiato

White Footprints

Music: Hasegawa Tadashi

Lyrics: Hasegawa Tadashi

You, sighing at the window, the glass is fogged up
Cooly, only time flows in the room
A calm faced winter’s evening, white, gentle snow falls
Sadness has piled up in your beautiful heart

Since I am forgetting even the meaning of your heartbeat
I vaguely saw your lonely smile from the side

Though it’s a night with no moon, the light wont disappear, right
Wandering astray, deep in the forest, your footsteps are illuminated
A calm faced winter’s evening, white, gentle snow falls
As though forviging us, who knew too much

Were you to turn around, you wouldn’t see your footprints anymore, so
It seems we’ll disappear like this, not knowing our way back

Slipping your hands in your pockets, it’s warm
with the feeling wanting to go without changing a single thing

Since I am forgetting even the meaning of your heartbeat
I vaguely saw your lonely smile from the side
Were you to turn around, you wouldn’t see your footprints anymore, so
No turning back, we’ll disappear just like this

*********************************************************

I first translated this song eleven years ago. God, how things have changed. I have made a LOT of necessary corrections. Nothing is ever perfect, but at least it is no longer so glaringly bad.
